#tiethursday – Feb 6 – U-S-A! U-S-A!

Back on track in February! I am here to please the people. In honor of the Olympics, let’s show some American pride!

Oh my gosh, are you fapping to this?I’m bringing back the button-down. Hope you enjoy it.

I’m not sure if it was entirely intentional, but I sported the good ol’ red, white and blue today. Which is fitting, since the 2014 Winter Olympics have officially started.

I often, well sometimes, get doubted about my allegiances in international competitions. Let’s stop that. I’m rooting for the USA. Always have, despite my Canadian heritage.

While proud to be the offspring of two Canadians, and a fan of Canadian things (hockey, beer, being friendly, universal healthcare), I never put Canada above the USA in sports. I was born in the USA and have always lived within its borders, so I consider myself an American first and foremost. The final of the gold medal game in Vancouver was a heartbreaker, and I didn’t take any solace in the fact that my “back-up” team had won. Hopefully those bad memories can be expunged this winter.

So, game on, World! U-S-A! U-S-A!

I knew I felt different on Friday!

April 17th was a really good day. It was the day after I got a job with Inmar, so I was already in a good place. Jenn took me out to lunch at a nice restaurant and the parents took us out for Japanese that night. It was just a great day all around.

But, I felt different all day, and I couldn’t figure out why. Now I know.

I WOKE UP CANADIAN!!! How awesome is that? I am now eligible to be a citizen of both the United States and Canada! I can be both arrogant and overly-friendly at once! With two Canadian parents, I am definitely eligible, and all I have to do is send in my information, write a check for $75 and then I’ll receive my certification that I’m a bonafide Canadian.

This all raises interesting questions. For example, who do I cheer for in the Olympics? I technically have allegiances to both nations now.

Should I go back to being a Leafs fan? Heavens no, I don’t enjoy misery.

So, all of my friends that are already Canadian, I hope you will welcome me with open arms and a nice bowl of poutine, because i’m ready to be Canadian.

Family trip to Canada – Niagara Falls

As some of you probably know, I’m up in Canada for the week, enoying a family vacation. We left yesterday, July 26th, and surprised Jenn and Kenzie by stopping at Niagara Falls on the way up.

It’s a truly beautiful and awe-inspiring sight, even if this was my third time. Take a look at the gallery below!

Kenzie really seemed to enjoy it!
