In honor of Buddy Holly – 50 years

It’s been fifty years since Buddy Holly died. Of course, that’s well before I was even a thought, but his impact on music lasts to this day.

The one thing I remember about Buddy Holly from History of Rock and Roll class is how he strayed from the 50s rock trend. Most artists of the day were trying to redo the great 50s rock sound, but Holly was pointing forward to a new sound.

After all, the Beatles named themselves such to honor Buddy Holly and his band, the Crickets.

Enjoy…

  1. Not to mention that Weezer song. I think that was his true legacy.
